How your Chakras affect your body part 2
Last week I explained how your first three Chakras or energy centres can affect your physical body when they are open and developed or closed and undeveloped. If you missed that Blog, which covers issues relating to the bones, joints, blood, immune system, skin, bladder, back and hip pain, menstrual and menopause issues, sexual difficulties and digestive disorders, you can find it here.
Today I will be looking at the remaining 4 Chakras and how they link to physical ailments. Having an understanding of how the non-physical in terms of emotions, feelings, thoughts and beliefs can affect your physical body will help you to be more in tune with yourself so that you can heal what needs to be healed.
Let us dive in with the next 4 Chakras:
4. Heart Chakra or Anahata
The fourth Chakra is located in the spine directly behind the centre of the chest. Moving on from the ego and developing the Self we now evolve into feeling love and compassion for ourselves and others. It is our feeling centre. It is where we become aware of our community and serving.
If this Chakra is closed or undeveloped, you may find it difficult to care for yourself or love yourself. There is a lack of depth and warmth as the heart feeling is missing. There can be some deep seated beliefs blocking this area resulting in you feeling unloveable, fearful of loving, unable to forgive and holding onto the past. If we didn’t receive the love we needed as a child it can close this area in order to protect us. This is also where we store deep sadness and grief in the lungs.
Physical areas which connect with the Heart chakra include the thymus, heart and lungs. Ailments that come up in this area are breathing difficulties, asthma, bronchitis and pneumonia, angina and heart problems, circulatory issues and breast problems.
When this Chakra is open you will feel an infinite source of love and compassion for yourself and humanity. You will be able to truly love yourself, forgive what needs to be forgiven and feel kindness and compassion for all.
Questions to ask yourself to find out if you have an imbalance in this area:
Are there emotional issues that are keeping you from loving fully?
How do you feel about yourself?
Are you holding on to the past, unable to forgive and let go?
Can you find forgiveness and acceptance for yourself and others so your heart can heal and open?
5. Throat Chakra or Vishuddha
The fifth Chakra is located in the neck behind the throat and affects the larynx (voice box) and thyroid. After developing love and compassion we move on to finding your true voice in order to express it. This area affects the throat and the mouth, how we express and assimilate our world. It is the starting point where we take in nourishment and the exit point where we express our thoughts and feelings using our voice.
If this area is undeveloped you will find it difficult to take in nourishment and express yourself. You may feel unheard, find it difficult speaking up for yourself and feel as if you have no voice.
Physical issues that come up are mouth, throat and teeth problems, thyroid issues, neck tension and jaw problems. Addictive behaviour also relates to this area. When you don’t express yourself and instead try and push down the feelings and emotions, the body needs to find a way to keep them down. It does this through addictions such as over eating, alcoholism and drug abuse.
The throat Chakra is the bridge between heart and mind, head and body. When it is open you will be able to communicate clearly having a balance between wisdom and compassion, thought and feeling, giving and receiving. You will be able to transform negative to positive and heal your inner wounds.
Questions to ask yourself to find out if you have an imbalance in this area:
Do you feel fearful or find it difficult to speak up and make your needs heard?
Are you swallowing a reality that is causing you pain?
Are you repressing painful experiences from your past through addictive behaviour?
Can you connect your mind with your heart and body so true healing can occur?

6. Third Eye Chakra or Ajna
The sixth Chakra is located behind the centre of the eyebrows and is the symbol for the eye of wisdom that looks within and sees the truth. Here you develop your higher consciousness, and particularly your intuition, perception and insight. Here you see past the limitations of human existence.
When this area is closed, you will lack self awareness and higher consciousness. You may be fearful of anything spiritual and of going within resulting in closed and rigid thinking patterns and attitudes. You will resist new ideas or alternative view points, especially relating to anything Spiritual.
Physically this can manifest in nerve disorders, senility, brain disorders and immune disorders, headaches, eyesight issues and hearing problems.
For complete awakening, there needs to be balance between head and heart, insight and compassion. The third Eye is not intellectual but allows you to discover the truth within yourself.
Questions to ask yourself to find out if you have an imbalance in this area:
Are you fearful of others and closed to alternative viewpoints and feelings?
Do you hide behind your intellect?
Do your beliefs limit your ability to be open and accepting?
Can you open your mind to accepting different ways of thinking?
7. Crown Chakra or Shasrara
The seventh Chakra is located at the top of the head, where the individual self dissolves into cosmic consciousness. Here all activity becomes selfless. It is the start of the real journey.
When this Chakra is not awakened, there is resistance to spiritual growth and a strong ego, which can lead to depression and sadness as Life seems to have no meaning. Without faith in something, and this can be whatever resonates with you and can even be faith within yourself, there is emptiness or a void. You feel a lack of purpose, meaning or direction.
This area is about surrender. Surrendering your ego and individual self to the Divine self which is limitless and all powerful. It also affects every aspect of your being.
Questions to ask yourself to find out if you have an imbalance in this area:
Do you struggle with depression?
Has life lost it’s meaning for you?
Do you feel empty inside and lack direction or purpose?
Can you surrender your Ego and find divinity within you?
I hope you have been able to connect some dots in terms of any health issues you may be experiencing and the underlying energetic cause. I encourage you to get into the habit of slowing down and tuning into your body and letting it communicate with you. It is always communicating but is down to us to create stillness so we can hear the messages.
What areas are you noticing in your body that may feel different or are holding tension?
I would love to hear from you about what sensations you are noticing in your body, let me know.
With love,
